Amerigo Velletti

Munich, Germany · AI & robotics at TUM

AmerigoVelletti.

Before I built a search engine, I sang in a cathedral choir, travelled across four continents and helped turn brewery waste into insect protein.

Italian roots. A home in Munich. A path still unfolding.

My name is a little unusual.
My path so far has been, too.

I like learning by trying things for myself. That has taken me from Information Systems at the Technical University of Munich to AI research, robotics, entrepreneurship and plenty of unexpected detours.

My bachelor's thesis at TUM explored AI-assisted decision support alongside my work at EY. It became TRACE, a sole-author paper accepted at CoopIS 2026. The question that keeps drawing me back is simple: what makes a system intelligent?

Building things gives those questions somewhere to go. Sometimes that means a search engine or an automation tool. Sometimes it means an Arduino project, a robotic arm, or learning from someone whose world is very different from mine.

Fourteen years in a cathedral choir

I spent fourteen years in the Münchner Domchor, surrounded by people several generations older than me. Later, I became a point of contact for younger singers. It remains one of the longest commitments in my life.

A short holiday that became four continents

A trip to Sicily with my brother grew into a journey through Mexico, Canada, Japan, Thailand, Spain and Portugal. Along the way came three hackathons, the Enactus World Cup and an entrepreneurship programme in Mexico as one of eight European founders.

Learning with my hands, and from other people

Cooking, hiking, bouldering and surfing are part of the mix. So are helping organise hackathons in Munich and mentoring students across three countries. Trying something new tends to lead to the next question.
